Recommendations to Make Your Next Move Relaxing

Do you think removals can be relaxing? Most people say no to that question, and in fact, moving is considered to be one of the most stressful events a person can go through. Hi! My name is Carrie, and I hope to change all that. In this blog, I am going to show you how to keep your move organised but also relaxing. A lot of it is just changing your perspective. For example, instead of dreading the act of cleaning a closet, you can see it as a chance to go through your memories. Instead of seeing new places as unfamiliar and daunting, I hope to help you see them as new and exciting. I love moving, and I hope to share some of my affection for it with you. Thanks for reading.

7 Tips for Packing Up Your Garage

Removals can be stressful, and to make the process easier, you may want a plan for each unique area of your home. That includes your garage. Here are some tips to help with that area of your home.

1. Sort and Purge

Purging is a standard part of most removals. Many people find this to be the perfect time to get rid of possessions that they no longer need or want. Make sure that you do a purge of your garage. That way, you don't unnecessarily pay to move items you don't need.

2. Set Aside What You Need for the Move

There may be items in your garage that you need to get through your removals. For instance, if you plan to do any repairs, you may need to leave out some tools. Similarly, if you store your tape in the garage, you may want that as well.

Make a pile of these items and set them aside. If you accidentally pack stuff that you end up needing later, it wastes time to dig through boxes and unpack them.

3. Make a List of Large Items

Most removal companies can give you an estimate on the size of truck you need, but to ensure you get an accurate estimate, it helps to have a list of big items. Note anything in your garage that cannot fit into a standard size box. That includes bicycles, lawnmowers and similar items.

4. Pack From Corner to Corner

Once you've identified a few essentials that you need, make sure to pack everything else. To make the process a bit smoother and to ensure you don't forget anything, consider working from one corner of your garage to the next.

If possible, don't leave anything for later. As soon as you pick up an object in your garage, either pack it or put aside to be used. Ultimately, if you leave items for later, they tend to add up, and that can derail your process on moving day, especially if you have lots of these little piles throughout your home.

5. Empty Petrol From Mowers

Whilst preparing your garage for the move, take some time to remove petrol from lawnmowers, petrol-powered chain saws and anything else that has petrol in it. The country has strict laws on how you need to transport petrol. For example, it typically needs to be in a jerry can.

On top of that, your moving company may have even stricter rules. Contact a removals rep to learn exactly what to expect in your situation.

6. Find Blade Guards for Tools With Blades

For saws and any other tools that have sharp blades, you need to take a few extra precautions. If you put these items directly into a box, the blade may break through and cut someone. Even with a sturdy cardboard box, that is a risk.

To reduce the chances of that happen, try to find a blade covering from these tools. If possible, you may want to pack these tools in their original packaging. Also, be sure to label any boxes that have sharp components in them so that you and the removalists know to handle them carefully.

7. Clean Everything

Finally, you may want to clean everything as you pack it. Also, make sure that everything is dry. That way, when you get to your new home, all your garage supplies will be clean and ready to use. Additionally, when you dry everything, you reduce the risk of mold forming in your boxes or accidentally leading to rust on metal tools.

If you really want to make it easy to pack your garage, just let the pros from a place like SCR - Sydney City Removalists handle it. Many removalists will handle everything from packing to transporting your possessions.
